1990 Glen Garioch 20 Year Old First Cask Highland

Colour: Deep gold.

Nose: Toffee and vanilla custard. A little plum spirit as well. With water: Minerals, grassyr and finally fruity (grenadine, strawberry pie). Hints of sherry. High quality.

Mouth (neat): really rich, creamy Beautiful notes of gentian spirit (or Suze), a little peat, ginger, pepper, liquorice wood, honeydew… Then cough drops and pepper. Another big Glen Garioch of high quality. Excellent ‘compact’ oakiness, not of the easy vanilla/ginger kind. Also hints of plum spirit once again. With water: excellent, with more spices and a little grapefruit. Nutmeg, peat. Finish: long, with more liquorice and pepper.

Comments: just excellent, perfectly balanced.
