Appearance - Deep mahogany at the core, shading to amber‑tawny on the rim. Viscous, slow‑moving tears—classic of long‑aged fortified wines.
A beautifully mature LBV nose, with: Dried fig, medjool date, and black raisin. Walnut husk, almond skin, and old wooden spice chest. Hints of orange oil, cedar, and a touch of balsamic lift. Subtle cocoa powder and pipe tobacco from long bottle age
Palate - Silky, mellow texture with the sweetness fully integrated. Flavours of molasses, prune, roasted hazelnut, and dark chocolate. Secondary notes of black tea, leather, and autumn leaves. A gentle oxidative warmth, but still carrying Taylor’s signature backbone of acidity
Finish :- Long, nutty, and elegant. Echoes of caramelised fruit, cocoa, and dried citrus peel. A whisper of spice and old wood lingering at the end
Taylor’s LBV is always ruby‑based, so even at this age it retains more fruit and structure than a colheita of the same year. The 1976 vintage was warm and generous, giving wines that aged into soft, sweet, nut‑laden maturity.
