1997 Glen Ord Cask Strength Collection, Aged 15 Years, 60.8% vol
1997 Glen Ord – Signatory Vintage, 15 Years, Cask Strength (60.8%)
Highland single malt from two hogsheads, bottled at natural strength.
Nose - Bright orchard fruit: green apple, pear skin, underripe apricot. Classic Glen Ord barley sweetness and cereal richness. Honeycomb, vanilla pod, and light toffee from the hogsheads. Herbal lift: lemongrass, mint, and heather. A faint waxy note and a touch of chalky minerality
With water: more citrus (lemon oil), plus soft malt biscuits
Palate - Big arrival at 60.8%: spiced pear, barley sugar, and malt loaf. A clean, structured Highland profile — apple peel, white pepper, gingerMid‑palate turns creamier: vanilla fudge, sweet oak, and light honey. Subtle grassy/herbal tones that keep it fresh and lively
With water: becomes silkier, revealing coconut, almond, and soft orchard fruit
Full‑bodied, oily, and mouth‑coating. Alcohol is powerful but well‑integrated for the age. Oak influence is gentle — these hogsheads preserved the spirit’s purity. Long, warming finish with malt, citrus zest, and gentle spice
A clean, barley‑driven, fruit‑forward Highlander with Glen Ord’s signature combination of orchard fruit, cereal richness, and herbal freshness. The cask strength adds muscle, but the spirit remains elegant and bright.
