1999 Strathisla 14 year old, Speyside Bottled 2013 Gordon & Macphail
Part of the Distillery Labels series from Gordon and MacPhail, which gives their independently bottled whiskies traditional (and often very cool) labels. Speaking of very cool, this Strathisla single malt which matured in sherry casks since 1999 is pretty awesome, not only for the stylish font on the label, but the whisky is proper cracking too.
Lovely yeast notes, grass, there is some zest in it, leaving a pleasant impression. The Nose is open, dry, young, wood-moonshine, yeast, yeast dough, freshly baked bread, a little lemon zest, a little dried mown grass. wood dust. The Taste Sufficiently dense, yeast, dough, nuts, moonshine, grain. The Finish Herbal, sour bread, dough, nuts, orange peel, over time appear notes of mint, resin and solvent.
