A wild, punk‑spirited Ardbeg built around extremely roasted black malt — the most unconventional mashbill the distillery has ever used. The result is a whisky that leans into char, savoury depth, and bitter‑sweet darkness, with a riot of smoky textures.
Appearance - Deep golden amber, with a slightly oily, slow‑moving viscosity.
Nose - Marmite, burnt toast, and chicory charcoal. Infused coffee grounds, roasted malt, and dark savoury notes. A wave of spice, smoke, and earthy bitterness hints of cocoa husk, charred grain, and smoldering embersA nose that’s aggressively savoury, smoky, and unmistakably “Ardcore.”
Palate - Jaw‑dropping spicy and fiery mouthfeel. Rich smoky flavours: cocoa powder, dark chocolate, bonfire sootPeanut brittle toffee, roasted nuts, and burnt sugar. Smoked lime, charred citrus peel, and a gritty, earthy maltiness. A thick, almost chewy smoke that feels both sweet and bitterThis is Ardbeg at its most anarchic — bold, roasted, and unapologetically intense.
Finish - Long, lingering treacle toffeeSoot, smoke, and charred maltA final echo of bonfire embers and dark sweetness
