54.2% ABV • Non‑Age Statement • Bourbon & Sherry Cask Marriage

Uigeadail (pronounced Oog‑a‑dal) is Ardbeg’s deepest, darkest core expression, combining sherry‑cask richness with the distillery’s signature peat, tar, and maritime smoke. It’s brooding, oily, and layered—one of the most beloved modern Islay whiskies.

Nose - Dense, smoky, and savoury. Peppery peat, warm tar, and coffee grounds lead the charge, wrapped in machine oil, black pepper, and a subtle sherry‑driven sweetness. Beneath the smoke sits dark chocolate, dried fruits, and a faint medicinal edge.

(Whisky Advocate highlights this exact interplay of peppery peat, tar, coffee, and sweet peat .)

Palate - Full‑bodied, oily, and complex. A wave of sweet peat rolls in first, followed by orange segments dusted with sea salt, dark chocolate, malt, and smoky caramel. The sherry casks contribute raisin, treacle, and spice, while the bourbon casks keep the structure bright and smoky.

The balance of richness + maritime smoke is the hallmark here.

Finish - Long, smoky, and warming. Smoky caramel, dark chocolate, ash, and sweet peat linger with a final echo of salted citrus and oak spice.

Critics describe it as lengthy and beautifully balanced .

ABV: 54.2% (cask‑strength intensity)

Cask Influence: Marriage of ex‑bourbon and sherry casks

Profile: Sweet peat • Tar & smoke • Dark chocolate • Citrus • Maritime salinity

Uigeadail is the sweet‑smoke powerhouse of the Ardbeg range—bigger and richer than the Ten, darker and more indulgent than An Oa. Emphasise the sherry‑smoke fusion, the cult following, and its reputation as one of the best-value cask‑strength Islay malts on the market.
