A 1980's bottling of 20 year of Royal Reserve by Bell's with original box both in great condition.

Blair Athol near Pitlochry sees home to the Bell’s distillery which distills Blair Athol single malt whisky which is inside Bell's whisky.

We reckon this Bell's Royal Reserve 20 Year Old Decanter (shaped like a bell, obviously) was produced in the 1980s. There have been oodles of these bell-shaped decanters containing the classic blended Scotch whisky in our antique spirit section - if you're a collector

The Bell’s bell shape ceramic decanter originated in the 1920s as a speciality limited production item and is still produced 90 years later when the Dimond Jubilee decanter was released. This limited edition Bell’s Decanter with the unique 20 year old Royal Reserve was released in the 1980s, unlike other Bell’s decanters that will only contain 8 year old whisky.

Nose
Ginger, pepper, dry leaves, treacle tart, palmiers...  Spicy and quite weighty, with a good level of assertiveness. After some time in the glass with the lid on, some orange peel and fresh light green fruits rise to the surface, just ahead of the more weighty and spicy notes.

Taste
Orange peel, cinnamon, palmiers, ginger, pepper, vanilla, icing sugar, subtle dry leaves. Creamy, Very good.

Finish
Huh... the finish is great too... Bell's? Palmiers, ginger, cinnamon, pepper... lots of spices, but not too much, just the right amount. And sweetness... and more pastry, some more orange peel, some grain that does not offend. Little vanilla, autumn leaves, a fresh feeling. Not long but not short either.
