The Château du Breuil Réserve du Château 8 Year Old Calvados Pays d’Auge is a beautifully balanced apple brandy that bridges youthful vibrancy with the first signs of aged complexity. As the entry point to Château du Breuil’s “hors d’âge” range, it offers a refined introduction to the deeper expressions of Calvados from Normandy’s most prestigious appellation.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Intense amber, reflecting its 8 years of oak maturation and natural apple concentration.
Nose: Crystallized apple, vanilla, and soft floral notes. Hints of honey, walnut, and a touch of oak spice. Subtle complexity with a clean orchard character.
Palate: Smooth and round, with a beautiful balance between fresh apple, wood tannins, and
spice. Notes of caramelized fruit, toasted nuts, and a faint earthy dryness. The wood influence begins to gently overlay the apple’s brightness, adding depth without overpowering.
Finish: Persistent and elegant, dominated by fresh walnut, vanilla, and a whisper of baking spice.
Style & Craftsmanship
Aged for over 8 years in French oak barrels.
Double-distilled in copper pot stills from cider made exclusively with apples from the Pays d’Auge. Bottled at 40% ABV, ideal for sipping neat in a tulip glass to capture its aromatic finesse. Considered the gateway to Château du Breuil’s more mature XO and vintage expressions.
