Dallas Dhu - First Cask 1974 - Speyside - 23 year old 46% vol

This is bottle 105, from cask 2605. Distilled 14th August 1974.

From old tasting notes: this spirit is smooth round and creamy nose, malty, slightly bitter, citrus and oaky on the palate; toffee finish.

Colour: gold.

Nose: certainly old-school, a little dirty(ish), developing on whiffs of damp wool, almond oil, and overripe apples.

Mouth: Sweet and round, but not quite fruity. Starts with plenty of marzipan and various oils, with a leafy bitterness in the background, and rather goes on with, nectarines and Grapefruit skin. What’s impressive here is the freshness, while there are a few raisins coming through, making it rounder.

Finish: Rather short, but sooty and kind of smoky, so very old-style. Marmalade, cinnamon, and white pepper in the aftertaste. Mandarin liqueur.
