Lagavulin 16 yo (43%, OB, 'Port Ellen', +/- 2009)

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Wonderful. Big tar, big shoe polish, big peat and smoked tea. Also fresh walnuts, cured ham and just hints of camphor and eucalyptus.

Mouth: Beautiful! Elegant, harmonious and complex.. The fruit is loud and the peat wispy, soft, a little subdued perhaps but it’s subdued to a beautiful, leafy smould. Gravadlax with dill, motor oil, coal hearths, kelp and notes of iodine and mercurochrome. Some lemon skins and smoked fish.

Finish: Long and full of tobacco, peat smoke, tar liqueur and hessian.
