TORN LABEL
Lagavulin 8 Year Old – 200th Anniversary Limited Edition
Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Islay, Scotland
ABV: 48%
Cask Type: Refill European & American Oak
Style: Bright, fierce, smoky, and classically Lagavulin — youthful but razor‑sharp
Appearance - Pale straw — luminous, clean, and unmistakably refill‑bourbon in character.
Nose - A vivid, energetic Lagavulin nose — leaner and brighter than the 16, but no less intense. Dry peat smoke, kiln air, and charcoal dust. Sharp coastal notes: sea spray, wet rope, oyster shell. A citrus lift of lemon zest and grapefruit pith. Subtle sweetness: vanilla pod, barley sugar, light honey. Mineral edges: flint, chalk, warm stone. It’s clean, fierce, and wonderfully direct.
Palate - Bracing, smoky, and electric at 48%.Bonfire ash, peat embers, charred driftwood. A bright, almost cutting citrus core — lemon oil, white grapefruit, bitter orange. Sweetness emerges slowly: vanilla cream, toffee shard, honeyed malt. Maritime depth: brine, kelp, iodine, salted oak. A peppery, herbal edge: white pepper, eucalyptus, pine resin. This edition is famously precise: youthful peat sharpened by citrus and clean oak.
Finish - Long, dry, and elemental. Ash, salt, citrus peel, and a lingering glow of hot, clean peat smoke.
A lean, bright, and uncompromising Lagavulin, released to honour the distillery’s 200th anniversary. It strips the whisky back to its essentials: roaring peat, coastal intensity, and vivid citrus, all delivered with youthful clarity.
A fierce, bright Lagavulin bottled at 48% for the 200th anniversary. Explosive peat smoke, citrus brightness, sea‑spray salinity, and clean refill‑oak sweetness — pure, elemental Islay.
