Tasting Notes – The Hakuto Gin (Japan)
Appearance: Crystal clear with a light viscosity. Elegant in the glass, suggesting purity and precision.
Nose: Bright and aromatic. Nashi pear (Japanese pear) leads with a soft, juicy sweetness. Citrus zest—yuzu and orange peel—adds a refreshing lift.Floral hints of cherry blossom and subtle green tea earthiness. A touch of Japanese ginger and black pepper for warmth and spice.
Palate: Silky and layered. Pear sweetness carries through, balanced by crisp green apple and vegetal herbs. Juniper plays a supporting role, allowing the Japanese botanicals to shine. Sansho peppercorn adds a tingling, peppery complexity. Green tea and sakura lend a soft, umami-like depth.
Finish: Clean and lingering. A gentle fade of citrus oils, pepper spice, and floral undertones. Refreshing and slightly dry, with a mineral edge from Mt. Daisen spring water.
