Wine Tasting Notes The Sanford Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a blend of Pinot from all three of our vineyards in the esteemed Santa Rita Hills AVA. A mix of vineyard blocks and several different clones gives this wine added complexity. The wine is deep violet red in color and is bursting with black cherry, plum, and clove on the nose. The palate delivers cherry flavors framed nicely by bright acidity and supple tannins.
ABOUT THE WINE MAKER
Sanford’s founders were pioneers of the Santa Rita Hills; it was here, in 1971,they realised that the conditions were perfect for making Burgundian style wines. They planted vineyards much to the amusement of the local farmers, but their hunch was proved right in 1976 when their first vintage gained global acclaim; Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir now ranks among the best in the world.
