Redbreast ‘Lustau Edition’
Sherry Finish Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey**
County Cork, Ireland — 46% ABV
A collaboration between Midleton and Bodegas Lustau, this expression takes classic Redbreast pot‑still richness and plunges it into a year of finishing in first‑fill Spanish oak Oloroso butts. The result is decadent, sherry‑soaked, and deeply aromatic.
Appearance - Deep mahogany‑amber, with ruby flashes and slow, syrupy legs.
Nose - The critic note on your tab describes this as having “plenty of depth” — and it truly does. Baked apple and dates. Leather, dunnage earth, and black licorice. Raspberry jam, cinnamon stick, and warm spice. A dark, sherry‑rich undertone of dried fruit and walnut It’s one of the most expressive noses in the Redbreast range: fruity, earthy, spicy, and unmistakably pot‑still.
Palate - Rounded, full, and gloriously sherried. Baked citrus and honey. Peppery spices, clove, and a touch of red velvet cake. Damson, glacé cherry, and walnut. A deep plunge into what the critic calls a “delicious sherry fruit abyss ”The texture is classic Redbreast: oily, silky, and warming.
FinishLong, rich, and sherry‑saturated. Dark fruit, spice, and walnut. A lingering echo of Oloroso sweetness and earthy pot‑still depth
