The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills who, while travelling around Scotland in the 1970s, fell in love with whiskies drawn straight from the cask. After convincing some friends to buy a cask of Glenfarclas he expanded his syndicate and in 2004 the Society was purchased by Glenmorangie PLC.

It has a unique code system where the first number refers to the distillery and the second refers to the cask from which the bottle comes. SMWS also offers the largest range of distilleries of any independent bottler.

GN1.2 “A Ginfluential Tipple” is a Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottling of The Glasgow Distillery’s London Dry Gin, drawn from a second‑fill bourbon barrel at 60.7 % ABV. It’s a vivid, cask‑strength gin marrying juniper purity with creamy oak sweetness and spice.

Appearance Crystal‑clear with a silvery, oily sheen — the 60.7% ABV gives it weight and slow‑moving legs.

Nose - Bright, intense, and cask‑lifted. Juniper oil and angelica root at the core. Lemon zest, orange peel, and fresh coriander seed. Bourbon‑cask accents: vanilla pod, light caramel, oak spice. Subtle herbal lift: cardamom, lemongrass, white pepper. A London Dry with a distinctly malt‑spirit depth and gentle sweetness from the wood.
